Furano ski rental guide. Furano is located in the center of Hokkaido, and is inland, which results in dry powder snow. The ski slopes are varied and have hosted several FIS World Cup competitions (Alpine Skiing World Cup). The ski resort is mainly divided into two areas, the”Furano zone” where the New Furano Prince Hotel is located, and the”Kitanomine zone” which is closer to the Furano station and city center. Many guesthouses are located in this area, so it is also known as the guesthouse zone. If you want to find guesthouses with high cost performance, and would like to wander around the streets after skiing, especially if you want to rent ski equipment from shops outside the ski resort, it is recommended to choose to stay in this area. Of course, the closer to the gondola station, the more popular it is, so it is recommended to book early to save travel time.

In addition to driving, there are several ways to get to Furano. You can take a bus directly from New Chitose Airport or Asahikawa Airport, or from Sapporo City by JR or bus to reach Furano. Here are some bus information links:

• KKday – Round-trip from New Chitose Airport to Furano, you can use the English interface to book Hokkaido Resort Liner, remember to book in advance, while stock lasts.
• Hokkaido Resort Liner – From New Chitose Airport, Asahikawa Airport, or Niseko to Furano.
• 富良野巴士Lavender – Take the JR train to Asahikawa Station or Furano Station, and then transfer to a bus.

Furano is mainly centered around the Prince Hotel, and there are not many rental shops outside the ski resort. However, self-service customers can hire equipment from shops outside the ski resort in the Kitanomine zone to save on budget.

Furano Ski Resorts

The main ski resort in this area is the Furano Ski Resort, which is owned by the Prince Hotel Group. In the “Furano area,” there is a ropeway that can carry up to 101 people to the mountaintop, while the “Kitanomine area” has a six-person gondola. There are a total of 28 ski runs, with the upper half of Kitanomine area being mainly blue and black runs, making it a great place for advanced skiers to practice. However, the lower half has a very wide green run for beginners to practice.

The lift tickets for both areas are interchangeable, and you can take the ropeway to the mountaintop and ski down to both areas or take the Prince Hotel shuttle bus back and forth.

Both the Furano and Kitanomine areas offer night skiing this season, with operating hours from 08:30 to 19:30.
